How can you tell it's real?

An important question.  With just data (actual data, not altered), it's possible to determine if a weather/climate station data shows actual trends, not Urban heating or station changes, or instrument changes

For example, Lake City 30.1853  -82.5942 aligns with many other stations, and shows a similar curve over time.

Bartow 27.8986  -81.8433 shows a steady rise, which is not natural.  And you can know this, because Bing has a streetside view, and the "weather station" is clearly shown.

The temperature gauge is surrounded by asphalt, parking lots and AC units. It would be unusual if it didn't show an increase.  The Tmin data from this station doesn't match any other station.

Why this blog?

Outlier stations (another post that is pretty much just for my use)

Outlier stations are what I call USHCN stations where the data is wildly different from the majority of climate stations.  I don't know...
